The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association Board of Directors has chosen the official poster of "The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards."

Los Angeles artist Colin McGreal completed the poster in association with Famous Frames. The vibrant artwork features the world's most famous golden orb flanked by parallel rows of palm trees that give a sense of the iconic Los Angeles setting for the event recognized worldwide as "The Party of the Year."

The poster will be distributed to the 1300 guests attending "The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards" on Sunday evening, January 11 at The Beverly Hilton.

"We are eagerly anticipating our 2009 Golden Globe Awards with many of the entertainment industry's most talented actors and filmmakers celebrating some of the year's finest work in motion pictures and television," said Jorge Camara, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. "The HFPA board of directors felt this poster will become a cherished memento of the evening suitable for framing."

"We're honored to be given the opportunity to design the 2009 Golden Globes Award poster," said Mark C. Miller, President of Famous Frames. "We look upon this as recognition of Famous Frames' twenty year contribution to the film/television industry as the country's leading storyboard artist and animatic production agency."

The Cimarron Group coordinated the printing of these elegant 24 X 36 inch posters, which are printed on the finest archival paper featuring the embossed award and lustrous, gold metallic ink. There will also be a limited edition of 200 posters signed by the artist. Each of the 200 limited edition posters will also be signed by a celebrity at the Golden Globe Awards and be part of the "Stars For A Cause" auction conducted by Bonhams & Butterfields in May, 2009.

"The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards" will take place Sunday, January 11, 2009 at The Beverly Hilton with a live telecast airing on NBC at 8 PM (EST) and produced by Dick Clark Productions in association with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Orly Adelson, president of dcp and Barry Adelman will executive produce. Chris Donovan is the director and dcp's Bob Bardo is the executive in charge of production.

"The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards" will be seen in more than 160 countries worldwide and is one of the few awards ceremonies that span both television and motion picture achievements.

Street Fighter,The Legend of Chun-Li

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li is entering its second week of production, as hard as that is to believe, and they have a short blurb on their “blog” (slash marketing tool) with screenwriter Justin Marks. He drops gems about the “lack of a plot in the movie” like “But any true fan of Street Fighter knows about its rich world, its colorful palette of characters, and complicated web of varying interests and betrayals. No story? You’re just not paying attention.”

Well, we were paying attention, back in 1987 when the video game came out. But it’s 20 years since then, and it seems fairly doubtful that anyone is going to care about this next live-action Street Fighter movie, 14 years after the Van Damme, Raul Julia flick. Hell, we’re still waiting on a good Zaxxon movie, and before that even sees the light of day, what about Pitfall? One of the biggest fears I have about this movie (other than being forced to watch it over and over in hell) is that it’ll make Mortal Kombat actually look like a great movie. Actually, now that I think about it, it wasn’t that bad.

Marks goes on to compare the world of Street Fighter to that of X-Men, but I just ain’t buying it. We’ve had 40 years of X-Men comics to provide a gigantic world to draw interesting characters from, but there have only been like what, seven Street Fighter games? Now, if this was Street Fighter: Ken vs. Ryu, then we might be paying more attention, especially for the sheer amount of times they’d be yelling HADOUKEN! throughout the thing. Oh, they also offer up an exclusive image of Robin Shou as Gen, pictured below. Who? Wha? Bring on some shots of Kristin Kreuk as Chun Li, already.
